- Put the vegetables in the center of the plate
According to Taoism, plants transfer nature’s energy. All kinds of vegetables should be in the central part of your plate and to dominate the rest of the food. Also, it would be best if you eat vegetables from the place you live in. As to the fruits, consume it twice a day, separately from the meal.
- Avoid foods which are difficult to digest
Chinese stay away from dairy products, sugars, greasy meat and all kinds of fats. These are difficult to be digested, they obstruct the normal body function and they retain liquids in your body.
- There is a special way of chopping and cooking
They don’t recommend consummation of raw food. Also, the food you eat should be chopped into small bites, and the vegetables should be fried on a very strong fire and small amount of oil. In this way the food is abundant in vitamins and is digested more quickly. Another option is to cook on steam.
- The food should be neither too hot nor too cold
The food that has higher or lower temperature from your body temperature, like cold drinks, ice creams and hot soups can have a very negative influence on your body. The ideal temperature that your food needs to have is the room temperature.
- Consume drinks in the real way
Consume more than 1l of liquids a day. In that way you’ll provide all body tissues with the appropriate amount of water. You shouldn’t drink during your meal or right after you’ve finished eating, because you dilute the acid in the stomach and disturb the digestion. Chinese consider herb teas, especially green tea and regular water as good drinks. The tea should be at the temperature of 70 degrees, no more or less, but the coffee, soft drinks and artificial drinks should be forgotten.
- Proper chewing of food
The digestion starts in the mouth, thanks to the spit’s enzymes. Every bite should be chewed from 15 to 20 times, and that is enough to lower the consummation of food and eventually lose some weight.
- Forget about fast food
If you are always chewing something, the alimentary canal never rests. When it is always working it doesn’t speed up, on the contrary, it slows down. This leads to gaining weight, a feeling of bloating and digesting disorder. The estimated time between 2 meals or snacks should be at least 5 to 6 hours. Also, the evening meal should be light, and if you happen to have an attack of hunger it’s better to have a cup of tea instead of eat something.
- Eat less
The aim of the Tao diet is not to disturb your stomach. Just fill 75 % of its capacity – half with solid food, one quarter of liquids and the last.
