9 Common Phrases Smart People Never Say In Public
If you are one of those people who have trouble with thinking before speaking, this article is just for you. Sometimes we say things that we shouldn’t , not realizing that people can be hurt by them. It is great to say the truth, but have in mind these things you just shouldn’t say.
These are nine things smart people should never say in public:
- “It’s Not Fair!”
We all know life isn’t a bed of roses, but we still complain about everything all the time. Complaining won’t help you solve any situation. On the contrary you should focus on solving the problem instead. Whining to other people won’t make things better.
- “For Your Age”
Take this phrase out of your vocabulary. Telling people phrases like “you are pretty wise for a woman your age” or “you look nice for your age” is not a compliment at all. If you really want to give a compliment to someone leave out this phrase.
- “You Look Tired”
We have all been told this phrase and we can all agree it doesn’t make us feel good about ourselves . If we think about it, this phrase is very negative and it actually has no purpose. If you want to say this phrase to someone better don’t because we have no idea what’s happening in their lives.
- “You Always” Or “You Never”
These two phrases are usually to express anger or hurt someone. There’s no reason to make drama, just be specific about a certain issue you have with someone.
- “With All Due Respect”
In most of the cases after this phrase comes something that’s not respectful. A smart person would never use this phrase to ease into a conversation that’s going to hurt someone else.
- “Like I Said Before”
Everyone forgets things from time to time. This phrase tells someone else you’re insulted that you have to repeat yourself. If you’re repeating yourself over and over again and the other person isn’t understanding, try clarifying instead.
- “I Told You So”
We are sure that no one wants to hear this phrase. It’s very immature and it can be only used to make someone else feel worse while people who say it are supposed to feel better. A smart person never boasts even if they are right.
- “I Don’t Care”
Saying this is very cold and can be very hurtful. If someone asked you something or told you something you should never reply using this phrase, because they care about your opinion.
- “I Give Up”
Whenever you feel you can’t go on or feel defeated you should never give up or say these words out loud. You should always keep in mind that you are stronger, smarter and more capable than you think. Replace :”I give up” with “I can do this”.
